You know, I really can’t wait for a new year. 2010 is going to be one of the best years I’ve ever had. I’m graduating, driving, turning 18, college, I mean all these wonderful things are going to happen. But the future is very unpredictable, but I’d like to stay optimistic. So I’ve made it through the first 10 years of the 2000 milennium, and there’s alot of things that I’ve seen, learned, and done. It’s crazy how time just flys right by us! In these past 10 years, I’ve graduated elementary and middle school, had my first kiss, ran away, became an uncle, was a main man in a quincenera and a debut, grew my hair out, played Varsity Football, I don’t know there’s just too much stuff to name, but those are just the ones I can remember now.
Our teenage generation changed so much throughout the times. I would say this would be the most changed throughout 10 years. I remember in 2000, it used to be about Phat Farm, Fubu, HardKnocks, AirForce1’s, Timberland’s, well you get it. Almost everybody dressed up in baggy clothes because that was the fad back then. But now you see kids wearing tight jeans that look like spandex, rainbow colors, waver sunglasses, it’s like we went back in time to the 80’s. It just shows that most kids follow the famous people. It pisses me off because someone famous will rock the ugliest shit ever, and kids are going to take after them. Also, about the hype. Kids will spend $30 on a shirt, $50 on jeans, and $120 on shoes. I mean ya’ll look good, but I would never spend that much money on clothes. And it’s like, “how can you afford that shit?” I hate the hype because everyone dresses the same. Well, that’s them, I’m me. I know the fad is going to keep changing. What also gets to me, is that kids like to do drugs, smoke and drink. It’s cool if you smoke or drink once every occasion, but doing that shit constantly, that shit ain’t cool. I don’t think it’s cool doing drugs at all. I don’t give a fuck if you want to have a first time experience, I just don’t like that shit. It pisses me off how kids can smoke everyday and what they will do just to get their hands on that drug. I don’t man. Shit happens!
Our music is also a big change in the past 10 years. From good hiphop to useless shit that doesn’t make sense and stupid ass similes and metaphors. This is another thing that pisses me off. One day you’re listening to the radio, and a good song comes on, then when it’s over, this shit comes on, “superman that hoe now watch me you!”, or “cream on the inside cream on the outside.” I just hate music like that. It’s fucking whack, it doesn’t send out good vibes, and it’s lyrically gay. 10 years ago, we had Jay-Z, Missy Elliot, Ludacris, Fabulous, Nas, Eminem, The Game, and so much more. It was good music, then somebody got signed and made an album while they were faded and it sold out. I listen to reggae and hawaiian music because they send out good vibes and it sounds good. I’m hoping someone or something will change the music world around.
Our technology is another big change. From cassette and CD players to iPods, VCR to Blu-Ray, Windows 2000 to iMac, Floppy Disk to USB Drive, Nintendo 64 to Nintendo Wii, Playstation to PS3, Antenna phones to iPhone and so on. New technologies has treatened us so good. We can basically get anything we want, anytime we want. I’m looking forward to more interesting things that will come out in the next 10 years.
Our cars changed our transportation and our economy. Think about it. Back in 2000 to 2005, we were able to afford cars that had 16 miles to the gallon. Now that gas prices have gone up, we can’t drive those cars no more. We drive cars that have up 60 miles to the gallon, but cost about $30,000 or old clunkers to save money. Haha, I don’t know what I’m talking about because I don’t know shit about politics. But yeah, cars have changed throughout 10 years.
Sports has changed a lot too. I like to think after one person became a famous athlete, people start getting into that sport. For example, Manny Pacquiao. Many people, or should I say filipinos, didn’t know shit about boxing, but after Pacquiao kept winning and winning, they became fans of boxing. I know I became interested in boxing after Pacquiao kept winning so I ain’t gonna front. lol! I also think about how football is now. A lot of people play with all this tape, under armour, a back plate and face plate visor. So when did football become a fashion sport? I don’t get why players have to wear all this shit when they play. It’s like, “do you really need all that stuff on?” But again, that’s them, I’m me. I want to know how all of a sudden, everyone got into MMA? Especially celebrities? It’s weird watching them fight. Like Jose Conseco, Jason Frank, Michael Westbrook, Shaquille O’Neal. It makes me wonder how MMA became famous. Is it because people like to beat other people? Is it entertaining? The clothes? Is it to look cool? Is it for self-defense? I got into MMA because I saw Ong-Bak the Muay Thai Warrior and after that, I was hooked on Muay Thai. From there on, I started watching UFC.
You can see from this blog how much our world has changed in 10 years. I thank God for giving me life and letting me see and learn the changes that have happened. There’s so much I can write about what happened in the past 10 years, but I plan to stop writing because I’m going out soon. Maybe later. I’m hoping for the next 10 years to be even better. I don’t believe in that 2012 shit, because only God knows what’s going to happen, so I’m already picturing what I’m going to be writing about in 2020. A teenage president? Dressing up in space suits? A new sport? Hover cars? New genres in music? The slimmest phone? 1000GB iPod? Let the next 10 years begin!
